Purslane is a summer annual, and is a cousin of the commonly grown Moss Rose
(which is Portulaca grandiflora). Being a succulent it is very drought tolerant.
On the bright side, it\'s edible - as a matter of fact, Portulaca is very high in
antioxidants.
Portulaca is easy to pull by hand, but (being a succulent) mature plants are able
to regrow roots after being pulled. So if you pull it, remember to turn it upside down!
This rapid-growing summer weed is not only edible, but very
high in antioxidants. Savvy gardeners know it's not enough to pull this
succulent; you also should turn it root-side up so it won't regrow!
