Like its cousin Plantago major, Plantago lanceolata is one of the most familiar members of this European family. P. lanceolata tends to stand out more than P. major simply because of its greater height; but both can set off your allergies. This particular species does have some beneficial uses as a medicinal herb, though.
The best control is acheived by digging, making sure to get the entire crown of the plant.
You may have run into its cousin in this quiz already, and I'm almost certain you've
run into this plant in the wild. While it certainly stands out when present, this is not a
particularly problematic weed.
